Descriptif / Historique
Founded in 1956, under the name of SMEG, as a subsidiary of the electronics department of the Compagnie Générale de Géophysique (CGG), Sercel took its current name in 1962. The company then moved from Paris to Nantes in 1965. Sercel now employs more than 1,500 people working in 11 different countries.
The main activities of the company are the design, manufacture, sale, repair and support of equipment for seismic exploration and oil production. The range mainly includes: seismic sensors and data acquisition systems (land, marine and downhole), acoustic sources, pressure and temperature gauges, cables. We are also present on the Structural Health Monitoring market, defense and marine (cables, marine mammal detection systems).

In the railway sector, Sercel is proposing a rail monitoring solution. It is an unique geophysical solution for passive continuous monitoring of stability of infrastructure. Passive seismic technology combined to fully automated process allowing sourceless data acquisition and minimal human intervention operations. Choice of Sercel technology, from geophones or accelerometers deployed using wired or wireless solutions, to Distributed Acoustic Sensing fiber optic technology to provide fit for purpose design. Full flexibility for low to high resolution, 2D or 3D spot audits of hazards and/or permanent monitoring of high risk areas. Universal platform for multiple applications and environments. Full scope value proposal : design, equipment supply, installation, monitoring, quality control, maintenance, user defined processing and management of alerts and reports.
